Zerintia reaches an agreement with Vuzix for the development of solutions using smart glasses and augmented reality targeted at the industrial sector.
Zerintia Technologies keeps betting on the digital transformation of the industrial sector, and on advancing towards the smart factory. With this in mind, the company has just entered an agreement with Vuzix® Corporation, one of the world’s leading companies in Smart Glasses, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality both on corporate and home markets.
With this agreement Zerintia becomes the first Spanish company to be incorporated into Vuzix® Corporation’s M300 VIP program, which will allow for the development of augmented reality and virtual reality solutions using smart glasses, targeted at the industrial sector.
Zerintia Technologies is leading the deployment of solutions based on smart glasses and the internet of things in Spain’s industrial sector. Its platform, Wearable & IoT Architecture is being implemented in various companies in the industry to integrate wearable technologies with their business and industrial management systems.
This collaboration with the North American company will enable Zerintia to have privileged access to Vuzix’s cutting-edge M300 Smart Glasses, a powerful tool with which it expects to be able to offer increasingly comprehensive and personalized solutions to the aerospace, iron & steel and automotive industries.
“The agreement with Vuzix opens up a new range of opportunities before us thanks to the innovative hardware of the M300 glasses, which will enable us to offer new features and solutions to Spanish companies in the field of wearable technologies, augmented reality and the internet of things. The goal is to help companies take the lead in the digital transformation”, explained Kepa Sagastabeitia, Innovation and Consultancy Partner at Zerintia Technologies.
With these devices and Zerintia’s technology, companies will be able to provide their employees with powerful tools where augmented reality supplies them with all necessary information about the task at hand, the steps they are to follow to successfully complete it, access to supporting material (documents, schemas, manuals, instructional videos, etc.) or even remote, real-time support by experts who could offer advice from anywhere in the world. All of this without the need to ever take their hands off of the task or activity they are performing at each time.
The smart factory
Latest advances in smart glasses and the internet of things have paved the way for integral solutions that provide workers with comprehensive information about the tasks to be performed and how to execute them step-by-step with multiple real-time aids.
The smart factory generates significant cost savings by reducing response times with expert remote support via real-time streaming services, also improving the quality of customer service on maintenance or check-up tasks and incident resolution. Professionals have access to information and support material while carrying out their duties without the need to deviate their attention or get cut off from the issue or scenario on which they are working. This next-generation smart glass integration allows for “hands-free” operation, as well as access to powerful support features and step-by-step guidance in high-risk tasks, thereby reducing workplace accidents and errors while carrying out complex tasks.
The use of “how-to” or step-by-step guidance features insures the proper implementation of quality control guidelines and error reduction by making the performance of duties easier, while providing access to videos and instructions that help resolve issues and incidents.
All actions or tasks performed are logged and can be subsequently audited, enabling the obtainment of analytic information in regards to productivity or proof of performed tasks and their outcomes.
