How to improve the occupational health of employees

30 January, 2023
occupational health
According to the World Health Organisation, WHO, occupational health is "a multidisciplinary activity that promotes and protects the health of workers. This discipline seeks to control accidents and diseases by reducing risk conditions".

In other words, occupational health is understood as the ability to reduce or eliminate any risk factor that may exist in the workplace and the tasks to be performed by the worker. In order to do this, it is necessary to take into account the working conditions and the organisation of the work.

How to improve the occupational health of employees: digitisation

In relation to the working procedures that can be applied to reduce or eliminate accidents at work, digitalisation can play a very important role. For example, digitalisation makes it possible to monitor employee variables and set up alerts that are triggered in the event of an emergency or accident, thus ensuring the safety of employees. However, occupational risk prevention technicians must be able to identify, assess and control the hazards associated with work activities.

Smart wearables to monitor biometric data

Occupational health can be enhanced by monitoring biometric data and setting up alerts. Digitisation makes it possible for employees to be monitored (100% anonymously if desired) through wearables that detect factors such as heart rate, temperature, falls, etc.

These external sensor alerts ensure that work is carried out safely and set up alarms that can be configured for all active employees.
